The Brain's Way of Healing
This is what I am reading at the moment. I have to say that Norman has outdone himself with this book.
For people living with chronic pain, with dementia and conduction / movement disorders this book is a must.
If you suffer from chronic pain, you may have been introduced to the idea of pain maps - but did you know you can shrink the pain map! How liberating, how freeing and how much more in control of your life would you be with that ability?
no hesitation in recommending it
What about those conduction and movement disorders such as Parkinsons and Huntington's Chorea. It is possible to use what we know from the homunculus - that is the body map that exists in the brain, parts of our brain that are unaffected by the disease and enable, encourage and facilitate those parts to take over some of the functions impeded by the affected brain parts.
I can only highly recommend this book for anyone who might be a brain function; brain / body nut to read it voraciously and then re-read it.
Don't be controlled by old fashioned, mechanistic models of our mind / body connection - knowledge is freedom.
